Summary:

Lazer Logistics is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to lead the AP team, ensuring efficient processing of financial transactions while adhering to company policies. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and customer service, aligning with our commitment to employee growth and development.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Establish and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure accounts payable performance, implementing corrective actions to optimize processes.
2. Support daily cash flow activities and forecasting in collaboration with executive management.
3. Ensure accurate recording of invoices and payments, maintaining AP controls.
4. Manage and review new vendor setups and ongoing maintenance.
5. Align AP support with organizational needs and goals proactively.
6. Oversee processing of 1099's for Accounts Payable as required by IRS, including researching IRS reporting rules.
7. Manage daily activities of team members, monitor deadlines, and provide coaching and support.
8. Verify vendor accounts through reconciliation of monthly statements.
9. Review and approve invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and policy compliance.
10. Oversee vendor onboarding, including documentation, W-9 forms, and payment terms.
11. Address inquiries from vendors, employees, and stakeholders in a timely manner.
12. Analyze AP trends to support budgeting and financial planning.
13. Maintain and improve AP workflows within ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Esker) for efficiency and accuracy.
14. Prepare AP documentation for audits, regulatory filings, and tax reporting.
15. Troubleshoot and resolve AP processing issues, understanding end-to-end processes and interdepartmental dependencies.
16. Manage month-end close processes related to AP, including ledger reconciliation.
17. Develop and maintain systems, procedures, and policies for AP and purchase order functions.

Additionally, anticipate and mitigate potential risks related to AP tasks to minimize company exposure.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and AP procedures.
• Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or similar certification preferred.
• Experience in transportation industry or public accounting preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
• Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with 1099 and Sales & Use tax filing.
• Motivated to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
