Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an Accounting Technician II at Terrell State Hospital. The role provides advanced accounting support, processing deposits, posting to the CTF, and audits.

You’ll back up cashier duties and assist payroll, travel, and procurement tasks, working under limited supervision. The position emphasizes accuracy and customer service as part of a broad Financial Office team at a state facility in Terrell.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
• Knowledge of CAPPs Financials/PeopleSoft preferred.
• Knowledge of accounts payable and reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Process deposits and postings in the Client Trust Fund system and CAPPS financials.
• Code, post, and balance financial documents and review trust fund accounts.
• Coordinate procurement card usage and reconcile statements.
• Prepare and scan deposits, cash and vouchers for RBMO/Regional office.
• Audit cash, petty cash, and accounts as required by policy.
• Assist with payroll processing and travel arrangements as needed.
• Train other employees and support disaster recovery or COOP efforts.
