Job summary

Ryder Supply Chain Solutions is seeking an Accounting Team Lead to guide the accounting team in general ledger activities and month-end close. You will ensure GAAP compliance, accuracy of financial data across multiple entities, and timely reporting.

The role requires 5–7+ years in accounting with supervisory experience, strong Excel skills, and experience using SAP/Workday/Oracle/NetSuite or similar ERP systems. A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

• Experience with Blackline account reconciliation software preferred

• Ability to meet month-end closing deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items.
• Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the general ledger across multiple legal entities.
• Review supporting documentation for SG&A expenses to ensure proper GL classification.
• Review rent schedule, CAM, utilities and occupancy expenses and code to GL accounts.
• Review data supporting excise tax filings and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Calculate quarterly sales commission payouts, maintain amortization schedules, and prepare related entries.
• Partner with internal teams to resolve accounting issues and provide guidance.
• Support compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and accounting initiatives.
• Train, coach, and provide feedback to accounting associates.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and process improvements.
• Approve weekly timecards for direct reports.

Job Description :

Position Summary

The Accounting Team Lead provides day-to-day leadership and supports the accounting team and oversees core general ledger activities, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, and the accuracy of financial information. This role is primarily focused on general ledger accounting and helps ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, supervise, and support accounting team members responsible for general ledger activities.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial information is accurate.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items.
• Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the general ledger across multiple legal entities.
• Review supporting documentation for selling, general, and administrative (SG&A) expenses to ensure proper GL classification.
• Review the monthly rent schedule prepared by the AP Supervisor. Confirm that rent, common area maintenance (CAM) fees, utilities, and other-occupancy-related expenses are calculated in accordance with lease terms and coded to the appropriate general ledger accounts across multiple operating locations.
• Review data supporting excise tax filings and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Calculate quarterly sales commission payout calculation, maintain amortization schedules, and prepare related monthly and quarterly journal entries.
• Partner with internal business team to resolve accounting issues and provide accounting guidance.
• Support compliance with company policies, internal controls, GAAP, and applicable accounting standards.
• Assist the Senior Accounting Manager and/or other members of management with special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting initiatives.
• Train, coach, and provide feedback to accounting associates.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives, as needed.
• Approve weekly timecard for direct reports.

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
