Job summary

Servbank is seeking an Accounting Team Lead to guide a growing Finance and Accounting group. The role emphasizes leadership by example, technical accounting expertise, and timely, accurate financial work in a banking environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in accounting or finance, at least 5 years of experience in accounting, and strong proficiency with GAAP, journal entries, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example to foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare, review, and record journal entries within the general ledger system.
• Record, reconcile, and analyze daily cash and investment activities; escalate issues as needed.
• Prepare and maintain account reconciliations; research and resolve outstanding items.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes with schedules and supporting docs.
• Produce daily, weekly, and monthly accounting schedules and reports with accuracy.
• Maintain and update departmental procedures and internal control documentation.
• Assist with audits by collecting, reviewing, and organizing documentation.
• Support regulatory reporting such as FR 2900, Call Report, and Y-9SP.
• Serve as backup for Accounts Payable: review invoices and reimbursements.
• Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements with approved enhancements.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting questions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead by example, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Independently compile, analyze, and review financial information to prepare and record journal entries within the general ledger system, ensuring transactions are accurately documented and properly supported.
• Record, reconcile, and analyze the Bank's daily cash and investment activities, identifying variances and escalating concerns as appropriate.
• Prepare, review, and maintain account reconciliations, ensuring outstanding items are researched and resolved in a timely manner.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare a variety of daily, weekly, and monthly accounting schedules and reports with a high level of accuracy.
• Maintain and update departmental procedures, ensuring documentation remains current, accurate, and aligned with internal control requirements and standard procedure templates.
• Support internal and external audits by collecting, reviewing, validating, and organizing audit documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of regulatory reports, including but not limited to the FR 2900 Report, Call Report, and Y-9SP Report.
• Serve as a backup for the Accounts Payable function, including reviewing expense coding, processing vendor invoices and employee reimbursement requests, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Identify process inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and support implementation of approved enhancements.
• Perform special projects, research assignments, and ad hoc financial analyses as requested by management.
• Collaborate effectively with internal departments and business partners to resolve accounting-related questions and issues.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required; banking or financial services industry experience preferred.
• Experience with general ledger systems and financial reporting applications
