Job summary

The Commerce Trust team in Kansas City, MO, is seeking an Accounting Specialist - Wealth Operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of funds for client accounts, including wire/ACH, check processing, stop payments, and cost basis adjustments. End-of-day balancing is required to keep accounts reconciled.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent), 1+ years in finance or trust operations, and a hybrid work schedule with on-site days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, finance/trust exposure preferred.
• Minimum 1 year in finance or trust operations with basic banking knowledge.
• Ability to communicate with internal partners and external institutions.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming/outgoing funds including wire, ACH, and check processing.
• Keep end-of-day balance with proper cash control and reconciliations.
• Communicate with internal partners and external banks as needed.
• Create end-of-day cash control spreadsheet and support cost basis adjustments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Range

Hourly: $19.00 - $24.50 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to ensure the timely and accurate processing of incoming and outgoing funds for the Commerce Trust Company client accounts, including, wire and ACH processing, check processing, check stop payments as well as performing cost basis adjustments. In addition, ensuring all activity is balanced and processed at end of day cutoff.

Essential Functions

• Maintain balance between the accounting and bank related systems, related to wire and ACH processing, check processing, cash entries and stop payments on checks
• Communicate with internal partners as well as external financial institutions as needed
• Monitor and research out of balances appearing on accounting related reconciliation reports
• Create the end of day Cash Control Spreadsheet used to complete the end of day reconciliation.
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Basic knowledge of banking products and services
• Basic knowledge of complex accounting functions
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal partners at various levels of leadership
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and perform varied assignments with frequent distractions

Education & Experience

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• 1+ years of Finance or Trust Operations experience preferred
• Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of 2 days/week on site (training will require up to 5 days per week in office for up to 8 weeks, depending on progress and business need)
• Level of role is determined by knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education

This compensation range is for the Accounting Specialist - Wealth Operations or Senior Accounting Specialist - Wealth Operations level job and contemplates a wide range of factors that are considered in determining most appropriate job level and making compensation decisions, including but not limited to location, skill sets, education, relevant experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $19.00 to $24.50 per hour.
