Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred; Bachelor's degree better still.
• Experience: 2 years proven success in an accounting role doing bookkeeping services
• Proficiency with Thomson Reuters software suite
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, industry related software and proprietary software
• Detail‑oriented with a high degree of accuracy; excellent communication and listening skills; client first attitude

Responsibilities

Savant Accounting & Business Advisory (SABA) is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our newly expanded team in Barrington, Illinois. This office is the result of Savant's recent partnership with Professional Business Management (PBM), a respected firm founded in 1932 that built its reputation through exceptional client service, deep industry expertise, and long-standing relationships with healthcare professionals. As an Accounting Specialist, you'll become part of a team that helps private practice owners navigate the financial and operational demands of running successful businesses. You'll work directly with clients, support accounting and payroll functions, and play a meaningful role during an exciting period of growth and transition as the Barrington team becomes part of the broader Savant family.

In this role, you can expect to focus in the following areas:

Accounting & Client Support

• Prepare bank reconciliations and monthly journal entries
• Generate monthly financial statements
• Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting questions and information need
• Prepare sales tax returns and support bookkeeping activitie
• Process accounting functions through QuickBooks Online and other accounting software
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

Payroll Services

• Process client payrolls and payroll tax reporting
• Support payroll deposits, annual reporting, and compliance activities
• Assist clients with payroll-related questions and best practices

Team & Tax Season Support

• Assist with tax-related data gathering and organization
• Support colleagues across accounting, payroll, and tax functions
• Help ensure client deadlines are met with accuracy and professionalism

• Location: 1300 S Grove Ave, Suite 201, Barrington, IL 60010
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Growth & Transition Opportunity: This office recently joined Savant through the acquisition of Professional Business Management, a trusted firm that has served healthcare practices for over 90 years. • Relationship‑Focused Work: Unlike highly transactional accounting roles, this position offers meaningful interaction with clients and the opportunity to become a trusted resource to the businesses you support.
• Busy Season Expectations: During tax season, team members should expect approximately 50‑60 hour work weeks as we work together to serve clients during their busiest time of year.

Qualifications

The Accounting Specialist position typically requires the following qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred; Bachelor's better still.
• Experience: 2 years proven success in an accounting role doing bookkeeping services

• Ability to handle large client volumes while maintaining a high level of professionalism
• Proficiency with Thomson Reuters software suite
• A proven understanding of accounting and accounting practices

• Must be available to work additional hours, potentially including Saturdays, during tax season (January - April) and as needed to relieve coworkers as necessary

We take a market‑based approach to compensation. The expected base hourly range for this role is $26.00 - $36.00. Actual compensation is determined on an individual basis and considers factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, and market conditions. This role may also be eligible for additional incentive compensation based on responsibilities and performance.
