Job summary

Destination Cleveland is hiring an Accounting Specialist to join the finance team in a hybrid environment. You will monitor invoices, code expenses, and support monthly close while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.

The role involves vendor management, 1099 processing, and collaboration with leadership. Ideal candidates have an accounting degree and 2–3 years of related experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with Bill.com or Sage Intacct.

Qualifications

Proficient in MS 365, including Excel and Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to reconcile accounts and support schedules to general ledger and create new reconciliations.
Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and understanding importance of diverse suppliers.
Experience working within a general ledger and A/P and A/R system.
Knowledge of GAAP is essential and applies accounting standards.
Knowledge of debits and credits and their impact on the general ledger.
Organize, prioritize, multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborate with Sr Mgr of Finance and VP of Finance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Monitor BILL (formerly Bill.com) invoice inbox and assign invoices to approvers.
Post invoices in the correct period and code to fund, subdepartment, project and expense.
Initiate prompt payment after approval.
Maintain internal controls and suggest process improvements.
Reconcile to general ledger monthly.
Prepare and distribute Form 1099s and resolve notices.
Assist with annual financial audit and supporting docs.
Filing contracts and maintaining vendor records.
