Job summary

The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a full-time accountant in Missouri to manage daily cash, GL reconciliations, and financial reporting, supporting branches and budgeting efforts.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, five years of experience, and CPA preferred. Knowledge of GL and computerized systems is essential, with strong organization and confidentiality skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• Five years of accounting experience preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of general ledger and accounting processes.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems and spreadsheets/word processing.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily cash management, monthly bank reconciliation, and maintenance of recurring journal entries.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts, including bank/credit drafts.
• Processes returned checks and drafts in the accounting system.
• Receives grants and income and prepares the deposits and cash report.
• Processes office petty cash and replenishes accounts as needed.
• Prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements and supports branches.
• May liaison for day-to-day banking activities.
• Assists with month-end and year-end closings and various accounting projects.
• Reconciles bank statements and writes journal entries.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Performs daily cash management, monthly bank reconciliation, and maintenance of recurring journal entries; reviews and prepares non-recurring journal entries.
• Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts, including but not limited to, bank/credit drafts.
• Processes returned checks and drafts in the accounting system.
• Receives grants and income and prepares the deposit and cash report.
• Processes office petty cash and replenishes accounts as needed.
• Prepares and analyzes the monthly financial statements in relationship to the budget, prior year, and strategic plan. Assists branches with the analysis of their financial statements.
• May serve as liaison for the day-to-day banking activities.
• Assists with month end and year end closings.
• Completes a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects.
• Reconciles bank statements and writes up journal entries.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Prefer five years’ experience
• Certified public accountant preferred.
