Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale seeks an Accountant to provide accounting, finance, and operational support for the Finance Department. The role focuses on maintaining accurate records and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and organizational policies.

The successful candidate will manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, A/R and A/P, assist with payroll, and contribute to budget reports and audits, while upholding the Club's mission and values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with general ledger, reconciliations, receivables, and payables.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and internal/external customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and finance software.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records by entering, processing, and reconciling transactions.
  • Work with general ledger, reconciliations, receivables, and payables.
  • Process financial transactions through administrative systems per policy.
  • Assist CFO with organized filing for vendors, clients, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare regular financial reports (budget variance, GL updates) for decision making.
  • Assist with payroll as directed and monitor daily accounting processes.
  • Support audits and special projects as needed.

Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Accountant provides accounting, finance, and operational support for the Finance Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain accurate and precise records of the financial activity of the organization, while ensuring that accounting standards, policies, and procedures are followed with consistency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate and timely financial records by entering, processing, and reconciling transactions in accordance with established procedures and formats.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and journal maintenance.
  • Processes all financial transactions and reports through administrative systems consistent with Club policies and procedures.
  • Reconciles all cash accounts and other balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with Club staff, consultants, vendors, auditors, and service providers.
  • Assists CFO to maintain accurate and organized filing systems for all vendors, clients, and fixed assets.
  • Assists in compiling regular financial reports (budget variance reports, general ledger updates, etc.) to support decision‑making.
  • Assists with payroll as directed.
  • Monitors day‑to‑day accounting processes to identify opportunities for quality improvement.
  • Assists with annual audit and special projects as directed.
  • Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Required
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or another related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with general ledger, reconciliations, receivables, and payables.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and internal/external customer service skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite applications and finance information platforms.
  • Flawless ethics and integrity.
  • Safety oriented mindset.
Recommended
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or another related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with financial statements.
  • Experience in a non-profit setting.
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP.
