Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and monthly/quarterly close processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Post monthly, quarterly, and year-end close journal entries in line with US GAAP.
  • Perform balance sheet and income statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Conduct variance analysis to support internal and HQ reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial data for internal reporting and HQ deliverables.
  • Maintain GL and EPC billing processes; reconcile billed amounts to project records.
  • Support lease accounting, asset schedules, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Assist with internal controls over financial reporting and audit requests.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and timely reporting.

SUMMARY

The Accounting & Reporting Lead is responsible for performing general accounting and financial closing activities within the Corporate Finance team. This role focuses on general ledger management, EPC billing, and financial reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial results. In addition, the position performs monthly closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and variance review, and supports audit requests and financial reporting to management and headquarters. The role also coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between financial data and business operations.


This position reports to the Director of Corporate Finance, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position is hybrid, based out of our Houston, TX office, requiring up to 4 days per week in the office. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Close & Reporting


  • Prepare and post journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close in accordance with US GAAP

  • Perform balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, and research and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner

  • Conduct variance analysis on financial results and provide explanations to support management reporting

  • Prepare, compile, and review financial data for internal reporting and reporting deliverables to headquarters


General Ledger & EPC Billing


  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring transactions are properly recorded, classified, and supported

  • Support EPC project billing activities, including preparation and review of billing schedules and reconciliation of billed amounts to project records

  • Partner with Project Controls to ensure alignment between project cost/revenue data and the general ledger


Lease, Fixed Asset & Reconciliation Support


  • Support lease accounting activities, including lease schedule maintenance, monthly lease liability/interest journal entries, and lease-end asset disposal analysis

  • Assist with monthly FS Reconciliation schedules (AR, prepaid assets, other current assets, PP&E/ROU) and quarterly footnote disclosures (AR aging, PP&E/ROU, contingent liabilities) under the direction of the Sr. Accounting Manager

  • Support tracking and quarterly reconciliation of intercompany / related-party transactions among affiliated entities


Audit & Compliance


  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audit requests

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting


Cross-Functional Coordination


  • Coordinate with Project Controls, FP&A, EPC, and Accounting teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment across functions

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting questions and support business operations


Process Improvement


  • Identify opportunities to streamline close processes, reporting templates, and reconciliation procedures

  • Support the design and documentation of accounting procedures and desktop process guides


General


  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • A minimum of six years of experience in accounting, preferably in general ledger, project accounting, or construction/EPC environments

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and the monthly/quarterly close process

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
