Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an Accounting Manager for Operational Finance in an office setting. You will manage day-to-day office accounting activities, oversee staff, review reconciliations, and support forecasting and project estimating updates.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of related experience, preferably in construction, and can lead a small finance team while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Accounting Manager - Operational Finance - Office

Position Description: Manage overall day-to-day activity of office accounting department and oversight of all office accounting staff.

Reports to: Financial Manager, Operational Finance

• Create supportive environment to develop high performing finance team, provide training opportunities and engage in mentoring relationships.
• Lead accountants and other related team members, provide timely performance feedback and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilizing talent management systems.
• Review quarterly account reconciliations and make recommendations for improvement to Financial Manager.
• Review monthly G&A monitor and assist Financial Manager in updating forecast.
• Analyze and update estimating recovery monitor and review with Financial Manager and Chief Estimator.
• Manage petty cash, payroll and joint venture bank accounts and reconciliations.
• Review and approve monthly journal entries.
• Assist in resolution of daily office issues including vendor disputes, escalated to Financial Manager as appropriate.
• Review all office contracts and lease agreements prior to submission to Financial Manager for approval.
• Ensure builders risk log is complete and insurance coverage is in place.
• Review and approve orders from external suppliers.
• Review charitable contribution requests and ensure compliance with policy.
• Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be 92,000.00 - 115,000.00 USD annualized.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, and 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Construction industry experience preferred
• Supervisory/management of a small team preferred
• Thorough application of accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, general ledger)
• Analytic ability to review and assess financial data, interpret trends, and recognize inconsistencies
• Understands accounting implications of various contract terms
• Demonstrates understanding of cash flows and implements procedures to optimize interest income
• Knowledgeable of policies and standards to ensure compliance while identifying financial risks
• Displays actions related to profitability and risk management and effectively communicates risk management issues
• Exercises independent judgment and discretion with the ability to identify problems and initiate corrective action
• Able to apply innovation to offer and implement suggestions to improve overall operations
• Ability to manage many activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines simultaneously
• Able to observe performance and effectively provide performance feedback
• Proficient with financial system applications, MS Excel, and MS Office
• Self-motivated, adaptable and flexible to operate with minimal direction and little or no supervision while working in complex and changing environment.
