Job summary

SMDC in Dayton, OH seeks an Accounting Manager to lead development and corporate accounting. You will oversee financial reporting, grant accounting, and payroll processes in a hands-on, collaborative nonprofit environment.

The role requires a bachelor's in accounting and at least five years of experience, with strong Excel skills, GAAS knowledge, and the ability to work strategically with leadership to strengthen communities through affordable housing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Strong financial reporting and financial analysis experience.
• Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and month-end close activities.
• Solid understanding of GAAS and internal controls.
• Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and financial reporting functions.
• Strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work both strategically and hands-on within a collaborative team environment.
• Commitment to teamwork, service, and community impact.
