Job summary

SPG is seeking an Accounting Manager for a well-established regional CPA firm. Lead client accounting engagements, including full charge bookkeeping, payroll, and KPI reporting across diverse clients.

You will mentor junior staff, manage engagement budgets, and contribute to business development while maintaining strong client relationships. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of accounting experience with recent account management exposure.
• Solid double-entry accounting and transaction processing knowledge.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and basic tax understanding.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• Business-level English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Willingness to travel to client or firm locations as needed.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.

Overview

A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead client accounting engagements, including full charge bookkeeping, trial balance preparation, payroll, and KPI reporting for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role is central to delivering high-quality outsourced accounting services and offers the opportunity to work across multiple industries while mentoring junior staff.

What you'll do

• Oversee engagement teams across multiple client accounts, ensuring work is performed within the defined engagement scope
• Maintain bank, vendor, and payroll records for clients
• Prepare month- or period-end packages under accrual (U.S GAAP or IFRS) or cash basis accounting
• Assist clients with budgets, forecasts, and projections
• Build, prepare, or analyze dashboards and KPI metrics for clients
• Ensure client timelines are met and maintain clear communication between clients and engagement teams
• Interact with clients on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as needed, or delegate to senior or staff accountants
• Ensure engagement budgets are adhered to; identify and analyze any overruns
• Invoice clients at least monthly and follow up on aged accounts receivable
• Delegate duties to Senior Accountants, Staff, and Interns; review their work and provide supervision and training
• Participate in business development activities, including client proposals, travel to other firm locations, and networking events

Required qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in accounting, with recent experience as an account manager or equivalent in industry finance or public accounting
• Proven thorough understanding of double entry accounting, including transaction processing and maintenance of accounting records
• Demonstrated understanding of U.S GAAP and working knowledge of taxation matters, including individual, corporate, sales, and property/business taxes
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally in accounting or a related field
• Business-level fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Ability to travel to client or other firm office locations as necessary
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and knowledge of at least one accounting software program such as QuickBooks online
• Self-starter with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions; able to work independently and within a team
• Occasional overtime required throughout the year

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of or experience with additional accounting software such as Xero, Intacct, NetSuite, Bill.com, or Concur
• Bilingual in Spanish or another second language an advantage
• Specialized accounting knowledge in a particular industry or accounting area
• Current and valid CPA license or equivalent
