Job description

Position Overview

Lynd Clinical is seeking an Accounting Manager to help build and manage the accounting infrastructure required to support a rapidly growing, multi-site clinical research organization. This role will support core accounting operations, financial close, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the accurate translation of detailed clinical research activity into the financial records of the business. The ideal candidate is a strong accountant first, with experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment and familiarity with ERP systems.

Experience in a clinical research site network or site management organization is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and execute key components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, balance sheet support, and preparation of financial reporting schedules.
  • Manage and continuously improve accounts payable and accounts receivable processes across multiple legal entities and operating locations.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and support consolidation, intercompany accounting, and entity-level reporting.
  • Partner with operations and finance to ensure clinical research activity is accurately reflected in accounting records and financial reporting.
  • Manage the clinical research revenue cycle, including tracking study activity and amounts earned at the patient, study visit, procedure, and study level.
  • Reconcile sponsor and CRO payments to detailed invoices, study budgets, patient visits, procedures performed, pass-through items, and other contractual payment terms.
  • Identify payment discrepancies, underpayments, unapplied cash, aged receivables, and missing sponsor or CRO payments, and work with internal teams and external counterparties to resolve issues.
  • Ensure study-level revenue, accounts receivable, deferred or accrued balances, investigator payments, patient stipends and reimbursements, and related site costs are recorded accurately and consistently.
  • Support reconciliation of clinical trial management system data to the ERP/general ledger and help establish scalable controls between operational and financial systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with clinical operations, site leadership, business development, patient recruitment, and corporate functions to improve the quality and timeliness of financial information.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and appropriately account for non-routine transactions.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP or comparable accounting system required; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity, multi-location, or rapidly scaling operating environment preferred.
  • Experience within a clinical research site network, site management organization (SMO), or similar organization conducting pharmaceutical- and biotechnology-sponsored clinical trials is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the financial operations of clinical research sites, including study budgets, sponsor/CRO invoicing and payments, patient visit and procedure-level billing, investigator payments, patient stipends or reimbursements, pass-through expenses, and study-level receivables is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with a clinical trial management system (CTMS) and reconciling CTMS data to the general ledger is preferred; CRIO experience is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with detailed transaction-level data, reconciliations, schedules, and financial analyses.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a growing organization where processes, systems, controls, and reporting structures are continuing to be built and improved.
  • CPA or CPA-track experience preferred but not required.
What Success Looks Like
  • Accurate and timely monthly close and reporting across Lynd’s entities and sites.
  • Clear visibility into study-level receivables and sponsor/CRO payments, with discrepancies identified and resolved quickly.
  • Reliable reconciliation between clinical trial activity, CTMS data, invoices, cash receipts, and the general ledger.
  • Scalable accounting processes and controls that can support continued acquisition and de novo site growth.
  • Strong partnership between accounting and site operations, with financial data that is trusted and actionable.
