Job summary

CapstoneONE Search is seeking a Plant Controller for a world-class West Michigan production facility. Reporting to Plant Manager with a dotted-line to the Business Unit, this role leads the site finance function and partners with Operations to drive profitability and improve plant performance.

The role requires 5+ years of manufacturing finance experience, strong cost accounting and advanced Excel skills, plus ERP experience (Oracle/Hyperion).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline.
• 5+ years of progressive financial/accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Strong cost accounting background with routings, BOM and product costing.
• Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for operations.
• Advanced Excel; ERP systems experience preferred (Oracle/Hyperion).

Responsibilities

• Lead the site finance function and partner with Plant Manager and leadership.
• Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and analysis of plant financial performance.
• Develop KPIs on productivity, quality, delivery, inventory, cycle time, profitability.
• Provide cost accounting leadership including routings, BOM, costing.
• Manage financial reporting and SOX compliance; coordinate capital investments.
• Lead and develop finance/accounting team.

Job description

A world-class, multi-billion-dollar industrial manufacturing organization seeks to hire a Plant Controller at its flagship, West Michigan production facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager with a strong dotted-line relationship to the Business Unit, this position will serve as a key member of the plant leadership team and business partner to Operations. The Controller will lead the site finance function while providing the financial analysis, forecasting and operational insight needed to drive profitability and improve overall plant performance. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager and broader site leadership team, providing financial insight to support operational and commercial decision-making.
• Lead forecasting, planning, budgeting and analysis of plant financial performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with Operations to establish and track key performance measures surrounding productivity, quality, delivery, inventory, cycle time and profitability.
• Provide strong cost accounting leadership within a complex manufacturing environment, including multi-level routings, bills of material and product costing.
• Lead financial reporting activities and ensure compliance with corporate and Business Unit reporting requirements.
• Coordinate the capital appropriation process, evaluate proposed investments and conduct post-project reviews against original business cases.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure completion of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Lead and develop the plant's finance/accounting team while supporting related business functions and systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline is required.
• 5+ years of progressive financial/accounting experience within a manufacturing environment(s).
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting background, including experience with routings, bills of material and product costing.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with plant operations and translate financial data into actionable business recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Oracle, Hyperion or similar ERP/financial systems is preferred.
