Job summary

Foundation Software in Strongsville, OH is seeking an Accounting Manager who will report to the Controller and own the full accounting close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

You will drive automation and AI-driven improvements, partner across finance and operations, and lead a talented team to deliver accurate results as the business grows.

Candidates should have a CPA (active or in progress), 7+ years of experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with NetSuite and Salesforce.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred (active or in progress).
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including ownership of core processes.
• Experience supervising or mentoring accounting professionals.
• Proven ability to improve processes, reduce manual work, and shorten close cycles.
• Hands-on experience with automation, systems implementations, or AI tools in accounting.
• Proficiency in GAAP; payroll accounting a plus; strong Excel skills; NetSuite/Salesforce familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
• Lead automation and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and scalability.

• Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, Sales, and Payroll to improve upstream processes.

Position Summary

As the Accounting Manager, you will report to the Controller and own key accounting processes end to end, from the month-end close through reconciliations and reporting. You will play a vital role in building a scalable accounting function by streamlining workflows, reducing manual effort, and leveraging technology, automation, and AI to deliver timely, accurate results as the business continues to grow

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Own core accounting processes end to end, including documentation, process maps, and clear accountability across the team.
• Partner with the Controller to manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, driving toward a faster and more predictable close.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements.
• Continuously evaluate accounting workflows to eliminate manual work, reduce errors, and improve turnaround time.
• Lead the implementation of automation, system enhancements, and AI-enabled tools that improve efficiency and scalability, while maintaining appropriate review and controls
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that support consistent, accurate reporting.
• Partner with FP&A, Operations, Sales, Payroll, and other cross-functional teams to improve upstream processes and resolve accounting issues.
• Coordinate external audit preparation, including schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members through review, coaching, and feedback.
• Support the Controller and CFO on special projects, including system implementations and acquisitions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA preferred, active or in progress)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of core accounting processes.
• Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting professionals.
• Proven track record of improving processes, reducing manual effort, and shortening the close cycle.
• Hands‑on experience with automation, system implementations, or AI tools in an accounting environment
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP and general corporate accounting practices
• Experience with NetSuite (ERP) and Salesforce preferred; accounting for payroll companies is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; comfortable working with large data sets and complex formulas
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results on tight timelines.
• Clear communicator who works effectively across departments and drives change.
