This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being close to the details while building
processes that scale. It reports to the US Controller and is based in our San Francisco office.

Examples of Key Problems the Team Is Working On
  • Build public-company-ready financial infrastructure ahead of an IPO - systems, closeautomation, and the controls that come with them.
  • Take the close from manual and reactive to predictable and fast across multiple entities, including intercompany and foreign currency activity.
  • Own the full stack from vendor invoice to cap table, with AP, payroll, leases, fixedassets, and equity accounting under one roof.
Role Scope
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including consolidation and financial statement preparation across multiple entities, with intercompany and foreign currency activity in scope.
  • Manage all non-revenue accounting areas: operating expenses, accruals, prepaidexpenses, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and equity accounting.
  • Oversee the accounts payable function, and provide lighter-touch oversight of accountsreceivable, through the AP/AR Specialist.
  • Perform and review detailed flux and variance analysis, proactively investigatingunexpected trends or anomalies in our financials.
  • Partner cross-functionally to gather and validate financial data, and to make sure thenumbers are understood by the teams that drive them.
  • Identify and drive improvements to accounting processes, systems, and controls tosupport scale, reduce risk, and prepare the company for future growth.
  • Lead and develop a team of 2 (a Senior Accountant and an AP/AR Specialist),continuously improving close speed, reliability, and scalability.
  • Lead the end-to-end audit process for non-revenue areas.
  • Partner with external advisors and internal leadership on technical accounting.
What Success Looks Like
  • The close is predictable and efficient, and financials are accurate.
  • Operating expenses and cash flows are clearly understood, with visibility into keydrivers.
  • The audit process is organized and low-friction.
  • Systems and processes are continuously improving and scaling with the business.
  • You operate with high ownership and strong alignment, knowing when to move quicklyand when to involve stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For

The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don’t fitthis role exactly, tell us where you would.

  • You have 6+ years of accounting experience.
  • You use AI tools as a real part of how you work - to move faster on preparation, reconciliations, research, and documentation - with the judgment to know what has to beverified before it touches the books.
  • You’ve owned the close and the general ledger in a multi-entity environment, without acontroller reviewing every entry first.
  • You’ve set a close calendar and held FP&A, Tax, and cross-functional partners to it,instead of chasing them after the fact.
  • You know US GAAP well enough to make the accrual, cutoff, and capitalization callsyourself, and to explain them clearly to an auditor.
  • You’ve found a broken accounting process midstream and rebuilt it before it sloweddown the close.
  • You’ve taken accounting areas end-to-end through an external audit and worked directlywith auditors, and you keep workpapers and schedules audit-ready year-round.
  • You communicate clearly in writing and in person, you can walk a non-finance partnerthrough a variance, push back on a business owner with data, and leave a reviewer withno follow-up questions.
  • You’re comfortable in a modern finance stack - Claude, Codex, Snowflake, NetSuite,Ramp and Brex - and fast and accurate in Excel for anything the system can’t handle.
  • You run multiple close cycles, audits, and process changes at once without droppingone when another gets hard.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Bonus: CPA and/or public accounting background; hands-on ERP implementation, migration, or upgrade experience
