Job summary

Atlantic Group is seeking an Accounting Manager in Philadelphia, PA to oversee corporate and property accounting and financial reporting within a commercial real estate environment. The role partners with finance, asset management, and property management teams to manage month-end close and internal controls.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of accounting experience (real estate experience preferred) and CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA designation preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in corporate and/or property accounting.
• Experience in commercial real estate, property management, or related real estate environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/financial reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses.
• Oversee accounting for commercial real estate assets, including revenue recognition, operating expense reconciliations, fixed assets, tenant billings, and property-level financial reporting.
• Support external audits, tax reporting, debt compliance reporting, and GAAP financial reporting with strong internal controls and documentation.
• Partner with property management and asset management teams on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, collections, and financial analysis across the portfolio.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, review work, provide guidance, and promote efficient processes.
• Identify opportunities to enhance accounting workflows and support system enhancements and finance projects.

Job Overview – Accounting Manager

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000/year + bonus

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager in Philadelphia, PA for our client, supporting corporate accounting, property accounting, and financial reporting within a commercial real estate environment. This role combines corporate and property accounting responsibilities while partnering with finance, asset management, and property management teams to oversee financial reporting, month-end close, and operational accounting activities. The position also provides leadership to accounting staff and offers the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities as the Accounting Manager:

• Financial Reporting: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while preparing and reviewing financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses.
• Property Accounting: Oversee accounting for commercial real estate assets, including revenue recognition, operating expense reconciliations, fixed assets, tenant billings, and property-level financial reporting.
• Compliance & Audit: Support external audits, tax reporting, debt compliance reporting, and GAAP financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls and accounting documentation.
• Operational Accounting: Partner with property management and asset management teams to support budgeting, forecasting, cash management, collections, and financial analysis across the portfolio.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff while reviewing work product, providing guidance, and promoting efficient accounting processes.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting workflows, improve reporting accuracy, and support system enhancements and special finance projects.

Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Certification: CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, including corporate accounting, property accounting, public accounting, or a combination of public and industry experience, is required.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience within commercial real estate, property management, real estate investment, or a related real estate environment is required.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. Experience with Yardi, JD Edwards, Power BI, Cognos, or similar ERP and financial reporting systems is preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities while collaborating across finance and operational teams.
