THE ROLE
We believe every individual should be proud of who they are, where they come from and take pride in who we serve. We are in search of a diverse leader for the role of Assistant Director of Finance. This position is responsible for promoting and adhering to GAAP compliance and alignment with the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts. It is crucial this role position themselves as the go-to person in the hotel for support, coaching and education on company accounting processes, procedures and practices. The Assistant Director of Finance reports to the Director of Finance, collaborates closely with other managers and the Aparium Finance team in achieving financially sound and strategic business decisions.
What You Will Do
- Lead the hotel’s accounting and finance procedures, practices and policies, ensuring all accounting responsibilities and deadlines are completed accurately and on time
- Oversee month-end processing, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections and financial reconciliations
- Reconcile vendor statements, process weekly payables and complete daily invoice posting
- Supervise billing and collection efforts, evaluate creditworthiness for guest and client billing and provide timely resolution to guest account inquiries
- Resolve credit card disputes and chargebacks in a timely manner
- Count daily deposits, coordinate bank service pickups and maintain appropriate cash on hand while enforcing cash-handling policies and procedures
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, conduct regular payroll audits and maintain established payroll policies and procedures
- Collaborate with People + Culture on payroll, benefits and associate matters, and serve as the hotel’s liaison with the payroll vendor to resolve issues and concerns
- Serve as a financial resource for hotel leaders and assist other departments with accounting and finance questions
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching and motivating associates while creating an environment that develops future talent
- Reinforce the company’s Art + Science ideologies by modeling translocal hospitality, intuitive service and collaboration
- Help create a strong sense of belonging by upholding the company’s Respectful Workplace, diversity, equity and inclusion values
- Model an open-door leadership approach, positive work ethic, sound business practices and active employee engagement
- Apply your accounting and finance leadership experience to understand and support the responsibilities of the team, with hotel accounting experience and knowledge of the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts preferred
- Work a flexible schedule when month-end responsibilities or other business needs require additional attention
- Work comfortably in a dog-friendly environment

Position Requirements
- A minimum of (2) two years of progressive accounting and finance management experience preferred; we like to see that you have worked yourself up the ranks, so you understand the responsibilities and tasks of your team
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Hospitality is preferred though not required if you have years of proven experience
- Having a background in hotel accounting would be great so you understand the intricacies and vernacular of hotel accounting, specifically AHLA Uniform System of Accounts
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as sometimes “month-end” responsibilities and tasks need extra attention to ensure accuracy
- Ability to work in a dog-friendly work environment
