Job summary

SunStrong Management is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general accounting for multiple asset-managed portfolios. You will supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual close, review journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements.

Reporting to Senior Manager and Director, you will coordinate with auditors, tax teams, treasury, AP, asset management, and legal to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with US GAAP. CPA and Big4 background are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with an accounting concentration is required.
• 6+ years of financial accounting experience or auditing, preferably with Big4.
• CPA certification is required.
• Ability to multi-task across portfolios and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish accounting processes for new portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee GAAP-compliant accounting processes.
• Coordinate with auditors, service providers and stakeholders for audits and tax compliance.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end closes for timely reporting.
• Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Present ad hoc analyses to management and external parties as needed.
• Coordinate with Treasury, AP, Asset Management, Legal and Tax to improve accounting efficiency.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SUNSTRONG MANAGEMENT

ROLE

SunStrong Management is currently searching for an Accounting Manager to be responsible for various areas of general accounting operations for multiple asset-managed portfolios. Reporting to the Accounting Senior Manager and Director, this position will require the oversight of various monthly, quarterly, and annual close tasks, including the review of periodic journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish and oversee the accounting processes and functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with US GAAP and the applicable Company’s policies.
• Liaison with external auditors, service providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate financial statements audits, tax compliance/return preparation, due diligence, valuations, etc. as necessary for financial reporting and tax compliance purposes.
• Manage the completion of month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
• Review periodic journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Review and clearly present and communicate various ad hoc analyses of financial and other information to members of management, external auditors, service providers, and other stakeholders as applicable to supplement
• Coordinate with other functions such as Treasury, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Legal, and Tax to advance effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting function.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree with an accounting concentration
• 6+ years of financial accounting experience or auditing, preferably with Big4 accounting firm
• CPA
• Excellent judgement and decision-making skills
• Ability to multi-task across multiple portfolios and prioritize critical deadlines
• Impeccable integrity: words and actions must continually reinforce this characteristic
• Ability to manage, develop, lead, and evaluate other accounting team members
• Ability to define and establish accounting processes for newly onboarded portfolios based on understanding developed from review of historical financial information, operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, debt agreements, etc.
• Ability to research and apply accounting literature, such as ASC606 and ASC805

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in renewable energy industry; previous exposure to hypothetic liquidation at book value (HLBV) modeling
• Previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics, Xero, and/or Ramp
• Experience working with preparing and reviewing consolidations for multi-tiered legal structures
• Interested in exploring opportunities to leverage AI tools to enhance accounting workflows and deliverables
