Job summary

AWP Safety, Inc. in Northeast Ohio is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting department and ensure accurate financial reporting.

You will oversee month-end close, GAAP compliance, and tax filings, partner with FP&A on monthly results, and play a key role in ERP system implementation and internal control improvements. Strong leadership and communication skills required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Five years or more of related experience; two+ years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of GAAP, auditing practices, and applicable laws.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with accounting software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with FP&A on monthly results.
• Lead ERP system implementation participation.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
• Prepare monthly sales/use tax returns.

Job Description

The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close process and financial reporting processes.
• Ensure adherence to the company's accounting policies, and that the policies and financial statements are compliant with GAAP and any other regulatory requirements.
• Partner with FP&A for the monthly review of financial results
• Active involvement in ERP system implementation
• Prepare/review account reconciliations monthly
• Preparation and posting of monthly journal entries to support financial statements including but not limited to inventory, fixed assets, payroll and intercompany.
• Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns.
• Prepare and file annual personal property tax returns.
• Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Five years or more of related experience required. Twoor more years of experience managing others.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), auditing practices, and applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving skills and work ethics
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Experience with Great Plains or Microsoft D365, Quickbooks, TCR and Visual Lease preferred, but not required.
