Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in Atlanta is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead two Senior Accountants and oversee accounting and financial reporting for designated business units. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting with 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience; CPA/CMA is a plus, and advanced Excel skills are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage an accounting team consisting of Senior and Staff Accountants.

• Manage accounting activities for designated business units or functional areas, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with corporate accounting standards.
• Oversee the month-end close process, including reviewing journal entries, validating income statements, and ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and supported.
• Present financial results and performance analyses to Corporate Accounting leadership, providing insight into trends, variances, and underlying business drivers.
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned business units and partner with leadership, FP&A, Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
• Oversee transactional accounting processes within the assigned area of responsibility and maintain compliance with company policies.
• Develop and maintain reporting tools and performance metrics for high-volume or complex accounting areas.
• Maintain and update accounting policies and standard operating procedures to support consistency, compliance, and evolving business needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
• Participate in special projects and respond to ad hoc requests from management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
• Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience.
• Previous experience leading or supervising accounting professionals.
• Strong understanding of the complete accounting cycle, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, self-directed environment.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Construction industry experience is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills preferred.
