Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking an experienced accounting leader to supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, provide internal financial reporting, and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proven ability to lead teams in a high-volume environment. SAP experience and CPA/MBA are preferred, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related area of study.
• 7+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise associates, including staffing, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
• Perform complex accounting reconciliation and analysis.
• Direct activities of general ledger, vendor billing, cash reconciliation, fixed assets, and capital expenditure accounting.
• Provide strategic process-improvement recommendations and lead teams through change.

Job description

Position Purpose:

Key responsibilities include supervising monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes; internal financial reporting; account analysis; payroll and cash disbursement support activities; and special projects. Internal contact with employees at all levels in the organization. External contacts may include vendors, auditors, banks, and customers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Supervise associates, including but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
• Supervise and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close for company.
• Perform and/or review complex accounting reconciliation and analysis.
• Direct activities of teams responsible for general ledger accounting, vendor billing, cash reconciliation, fixed assets, and related capital expenditure accounting.
• Provide strategic recommendations for process improvements and efficient use of resources.
• Effectively lead team(s) through change.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger.
• Ensure transactions are performed within a sound internal control environment.
• Perform financial analysis as required.
• Prepare various ad hoc reports, conduct analyses, and complete special projects as required.
• Recommend and ensure adherence to accounting policies.
• Prepare and review schedules for internal/external auditors in connection with reviews/audits.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
  7+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience in a high-volume transaction environment.
• Strong understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change positively.
• Working knowledge and analytical skills to make independent judgments in relation to complex accounting processes and the business.
• Strong computer and analytical skills - High proficiency in Excel, working knowledge of Access.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a high-volume, changing environment.
• Ability to maintain efficient and effective financial systems and procedures.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under and meet strict deadlines individually as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
• Ability to work flexible hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related area of study
• 7+ years of accounting and/or food service distribution industry experience.
• SAP experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master's in Business Administration (MBA)
