Job description

Troon’s Corporate office, located in Orlando, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for an Accounting Lead! We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and advance their career within a rapidly growing organization. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to professional development and a desire to succeed in a dynamic corporate environment.

The Accounting Lead is a working supervisory role responsible for overseeing accounting deliverables for a portfolio of golf clubs or corporate business lines. The role ensures accurate, timely, and GAAP‑compliant financial reporting through hands‑on review, team supervision, and close collaboration with operations stakeholders.

The Accounting Lead provides day‑to‑day leadership to a small team of accountants while serving as a primary point of contact for operations. While not directly responsible for closing a personal set of books, this role maintains strong ownership of quality, consistency, and adherence to standards through detailed review, coaching, and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee monthly close activities for assigned portfolio, reviewing financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team.
  • Provide hands‑on review and quality control, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and Troon’s internal controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise and support a small team of accountants, including onboarding, task guidance, review feedback, training, and ongoing performance coaching.
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison to operations leaders, responding to inquiries, explaining financial results, and supporting alignment between financial reporting and business activities.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting issues and variances, escalating matters appropriately to the Accounting Manager when needed.
  • Support annual external audits and assist with internal audit fieldwork by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including data preparation, review of assumptions, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze financial performance, highlight significant variances, and provide clear, actionable insights to accounting management and operations stakeholders.
  • Participate in finance committee meetings as needed, presenting financial information and addressing questions related to accounting results.
  • Lead accounting onboarding and transitions for newly acquired or onboarded facilities, ensuring accurate setup and smooth integration into existing processes.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Finance, Operations, Legal, and other internal partners to ensure policy adherence and consistent accounting treatment.
  • Conduct periodic visits to clubs and facilities to support onboarding, relationship building, and operational alignment.
  • Serves as a primary presenter for financial results and analyses in client‑facing meetings, confidently delivering complex information, addressing questions, and tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.
