Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting.
• Completion of Intermediate Accounting I by Spring 2028.
• Completion of Business Taxation by Spring 2028 preferred.
• 3.0 GPA (cumulative and in accounting major).
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Strong drive and motivation to pursue a career in public accounting in Birmingham.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven time management skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Demonstrated leadership skills via work experience and/or extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with tax Principals, Managers, Associates and other interns on an array of tax returns.
• Assist with preparation of corporate and individual tax returns including partnerships, C-Corp and S-Corp returns.
• Gain exposure to tax returns in industries including manufacturing, construction, non-profit, auto dealership, retail, restaurant and more.
• Participate in at least one audit engagement during the internship, with opportunities for more engagements.
• Complete introductory audit training covering the audit process, procedures, workpaper documentation, and standards.
• Assist with basic audit procedures and gain practical exposure to assurance services while primarily working on tax engagements.
