Job summary

CliftonLarsonAllen is seeking an Engagement Director to lead high‑level interim or project‑based accounting engagements for diverse clients. You will design and improve monthly close processes, financial reporting, forecasting, consolidations, and relevant system implementations while delivering hands‑on execution.

You will travel as needed and selectively choose engagements to balance career and life. A strong 10+ year accounting background and Excel proficiency are required, with CPA preferred

Qualifications

• Ten years of accounting experience including public accounting; CFO/Controller/SEC Reporting or Internal Audit Manager equivalent preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
• Mastery in Microsoft Excel and experience with a variety of accounting software.
• CPA certification preferred but not required; strong project management and client service management experience.

About the role:

As an Engagement Director, you will:

• Serve as a high‑level interim or project‑based accounting resource for clients in various industries on accounting, finance, tax, and audit roles (Interim Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, Internal Audit Manager, etc.).
• Design/improve accounting processes such as monthly close, management and financial reporting, forecasting, consolidations, and system implementations.
• Take an active, hands‑on approach in executing client engagements.
• Travel as required; the more open you are to travel, the more opportunities we can present.
• Pick and choose your engagements to enjoy a balance of career and life.

What you will need:

• Ten years of relative work experience including public accounting; prior industry experience as a CFO, Controller, SEC Reporting, or Internal Audit Manager equivalent preferred. Big Four alumni.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
• Mastery in Microsoft Excel and experience with a variety of accounting software.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and exceptional client service management experience preferred.

The compensation range for this position in Virginia: $50,000 – $90,000.
