Job description

Position: Strong Senior Accountant
Location: Silver Spring, MD (downtown)
Industry: Not For Profit
Target Temporary Pay Rate: $50 per hour
Potential to go permanent: Initial need is to get caught up with financials and reconciliations
Software: Strong QuickBooks and Excel is highly preferred
Remote Work Available: 3 days in the office, 2 at home is preferred

A well-established Not For Profit organization based in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join their team as a Strong Senior Accountant / Light Accounting Manager. This temporary position is focused on helping the organization catch up with their financials and reconciliations in preparation for an upcoming audit.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Create general journal entries in QuickBooks based on bank statements
  • Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Process payroll accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure audit readiness and support the CFO during the audit process

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes
  • Familiarity with audit procedures and experience in preparing for audits
  • Detail-oriented and organized approach to financial tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

This position offers a temporary pay rate of $50 per hour, with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance and the organization's needs. The candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by helping the organization regain financial stability and prepare for the upcoming audit.

The organization understands the importance of work-life balance and supports remote work. The ideal candidate will be able to work from the office for three days a week and remotely for two days.
