Responsibilities

  • Perform general bookkeeping duties and post information to accounting software.
  • Regularly reconcile accounts (bank reconciliations).
  • Prepare payroll and related tax deposits and returns.
  • Prepare sales tax returns.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including billing and payment inquiries.
  • Manage accounts payable, including paying invoices.
  • Maintain vendor contact information.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns.
  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Kemper CPA Group LLP, a top 100 public accounting firm, is a multifaceted regional CPA firm with 26 offices in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and California. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an Accounting Associate/Bookkeeper position in our Merced, California office. Some overtime is expected during peak seasons.

This individual is responsible for computing, classifying, and recording financial transactions to ensure the financial records of the client organization are accurate. Our Accounting Associates also perform routine financial calculations and general ledger duties for clients while also checking the accuracy of calculations performed by other employees when needed.

JobResponsibilities
  • Perform general bookkeeping duties, including posting information to accounting software and regularly reconciling accounts (bank reconciliations).
  • Payroll preparation including related payroll tax returns and deposits.
  • Sales tax return preparation.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including receiving payments, handling inquiries, and billing clients.
  • Manage accounts payable, including paying invoices and handling payment inquiries.
  • Maintainvendor contact information.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns.
  • Preparation of financial statements.
  • Additionalduties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Possess an associate degree in accounting, business administration, ora relatedfield.
  • Two to threeyearsofbookkeeping/accountingexperience.
  • Prior bookkeeping/accounting experience with QuickBooks isrequired.
  • Tax preparation experiencea plus.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to perform complex tasks related to accounts receivable and accounts payable.
