The Accounting Assistant acts as a paraprofessional to accounting and fiscal professionals by performing assigned accounting practices to assist with fundamental accounting and routine fiscal procedures.
Experience in Accounts Payable transaction processing.The applicant must have an understanding of accounting principles and is able to analyze, evaluate, and process invoices from receipt through payment. This requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice. Knowledge of project costing is a plus.Experience in long-term care or related healthcare fields and an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Affair programs, and private healthcare insurance billing practices is preferred but not required. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required. The candidate must have the ability to work in a team environment assisting elderly residents and their families in a long-term care facility with their financial questions and assist with managing their finances. The candidate will also work with other agencies in gathering, analyzing, and reporting financial data to the Business Office for new resident admissions. Attention to detail, excellent documentation capabilities, and organization skills are highly desired.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
