Catalyst Brands is seeking an analytical Accounting Analyst - General Ledger to join our Finance Shared Services team in Salt Lake City. You will own month-end close, maintain reconciliations, and drive process improvements in a collaborative corporate environment.

The role offers exposure to cross-functional partnerships across Finance, Tax, Audit, and Operations, with focus on GAAP, reporting, and forecasting, plus a benefits package and opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field is required.
• GAAP knowledge and basic accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting processes, including month-end close, preparing journal entries, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain and own key financial and accounting controls to ensure compliance with internal corporate policies.
• Analyze complex financial discrepancies, conduct root-cause analysis to resolve them, and escalate issues to management as needed.
• Lead accounting projects and initiatives, recommending and implementing strategies to reduce costs and streamline workflows.
• Partner with IT regarding system changes to ensure seamless accounting policy compliance.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Finance, Tax, Audit, FP&A, Merchandise Planning & Allocation, and Supply Chain.
• Compile, structure, and analyze financial data to support forecasting models; develop reporting templates for leadership.

We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Accounting Analyst - General Ledger to join our Finance Shared Services organization in Salt Lake City. You'll report to the Accounting Manager and join a dynamic corporate accounting department. You will be responsible for owning standard accounting close processes, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, and building relationships with key corporate partners. Responsibilities

Operational Accounting Close

• Own day‑to‑day accounting processes, including month‑end/fiscal close, preparing journal entries, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain and own key financial and accounting controls to ensure full compliance with internal corporate policies.

Discrepancy Analysis & Issue Resolution

• Analyze complex financial discrepancies, conduct thorough root‑cause analysis to resolve them, and elevate critical accounting issues to management as needed.

Process Optimization & Projects

• Lead specific accounting projects and initiatives, recommending and implementing actionable strategies to reduce business costs and streamline workflows.
• Partner with IT regarding system changes to ensure seamless accounting policy compliance.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key corporate partners across the company, including Finance, Tax, Audit, Financial Planning, Merchandise Planning & Allocation, and Supply Chain.
• Work cross‑functionally with various departments and multiple levels of management, providing clear accounting guidance and support.

Reporting, Metrics & Forecasting

• Compile, structure, and analyze financial data to support forecasting models.
• Develop and enhance operational performance metrics and reporting templates to assist leadership decision‑making.

Team Development

• Provide support and guidance within the department, assisting in the onboarding and training of new associates on core accounting tools and processes.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a closely related field is required.

Experience

• 1-3 years of professional accounting, corporate finance, or related operational experience is preferred.

Accounting Knowledge

• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic accounting procedures.

Technical Skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data formatting).

• Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with cross‑functional teams and various levels of management.
