Job summary

JM Eagle is seeking an Accounting Analyst in Los Angeles to support cost analysis, month-end close, and GAAP-compliant reporting. You will analyze costs, review plant expenses with Production, and prepare journal entries to accrue revenues and expenses.

The role requires advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH) and strong knowledge of US GAAP. CPA preferred; Bachelor degree in accounting or related field with 4–6 years' experience.

Qualifications

  • High-level knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills: Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations and produce written reports.
  • Comfortable delivering reports to management.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze costs, financial results, identify trends, variances, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with Production to review monthly plant expenses.
  • Assist with month-end close and journal entries.
  • Prepare journal entries to accrue revenue and expenses per GAAP and policy.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Support annual external audit and tax filing requirements.
  • Liaise with IT to implement improvements to the accounting system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze costs, financial results, identify trends, variances, and unusual transactions, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Work collaboratively with Production Department to review monthly plant expenses.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, including ad hoc reports and analyses.
  • Assist with month-end closing.
  • Prepare journal entries to accrue revenue and expenses and/or other items in accordance with GAAP and the accounting policies established by the company.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Provide support and necessary documents for annual external audit.
  • Provide support for income and other tax filing requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.
  • Assist Assistant Controller to continue developing improvements in internal policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Liaise with information systems and technologies team to implement improvements to the accounting system.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, including ad hoc reports and analyses.
Qualifications for Accounting Analyst
  • Strong critical thinking skills and understanding of basic accounting concepts (e.g. debits and credits)
  • High-level knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, data validation, conditional formatting, and the ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets efficiently.
  • Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to quickly learn industry-related regulations quickly and utilize information in written reports
  • Comfortable preparing and delivering reports to management

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, business or related field AND 4 to 6 years of full-time accounting experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) title is preferred.

Computer Skills

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM and have experience with other analytical software tools.

Commmunication Skills

Ability to comprehend complex written materials. Ability to develop training materials. Ability to clearly express ideas and establish an interactive learning environment. Ability to speak effectively before groups (executives, employees, customers and agents).

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to resolve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished verbally or in written form. Strong problem solving and skills with ability to identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.
