Schneider Downs is seeking an Accounting Advisory Senior to join our Accounting Advisory Services practice in the United States. You will tackle complex accounting and finance challenges, develop project plans, and deliver client-ready deliverables in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

This role supports hybrid work with flexibility to work from home or in the office, and opportunities to work with diverse clients while advancing your career with coaching and technical training.

• Consult with clients on complex accounting and finance issues including technical accounting, financial reporting, and post-merger integration
• Develop detailed project plans to respond to clients’ needs and expectations
• Execute project plans and prepare client deliverables
• Perform detailed assessment, research, testing procedures, journal entries, and technical writing for technical accounting projects
• Assist clients with day-to-day accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement prep for outsourced projects
• Support accounting triage, tax workups, and implementation of technical standards for clients
• Participate in career development and technical training of staff
• Develop and sustain relationships with client executives and senior management
• Leverage AI tools to improve project execution and efficiency
• Identify areas for standardization in recurring projects

Schneider Downs Accounting Advisory Services practice offers a variety of technical accounting advisory services, as well as outsourced accounting and finance advisory services, for every type of organization from small businesses that have limited resources, to large publicly-traded and privately-held companies who need technical expertise.

As an Accounting Advisory Senior, you will join our rapidly growing practice whose clients engage with us to help solve their complex accounting and finance challenges where no two projects will be the same. This requires you to think on your feet and think in unique and creative ways to develop answers to complex issues. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity for someone who will be a key member of this growing practice area.

Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office. We are also open to individuals working remotely for this opportunity if they are within driving distance from our clients and offices.

What You’ll Do

• Consult with clients on complex accounting and finance issues which may include, but are not limited to, technical accounting issues, financial reporting, operational accounting, buy-side or sell-side accounting assistance and post-merger integration
• Assist in development of detailed project plans to respond to our clients’ unique needs and expectations
• Execute project plans and create client deliverables
• Technical accounting advisory projects require detailed assessment, extensive research, detailed testing procedures, preparation of journal entries, and significant technical writing
• Outsourced accounting advisory projects require assisting clients with day-to-day accounting, month-end close, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, month-end financial statement preparation and other such corporate accounting responsibilities
• Some additional projects could include Accounting triage and audit preparation projects include cash to accrual conversions, general ledger adjustments for tax return and audit requirements, and implementing technical accounting standards for clients
• Participate in career development activities and technical training of staff
• Develop and sustain relationships with client executives and senior management
• Embrace ways to utilize AI tools to bring efficiencies to project execution
• Assist the management team in identifying areas for standardization for recurring projects

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related technical discipline
• Minimum of two years of experience, either working in corporate accounting or public accounting roles
• CPA license eligibility
• A proven track record of working on multiple projects simultaneously and delivering excellent client service
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
• A willingness to learn and experience challenges outside of your comfort zone
