Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing Business Development

Join BDO USA as a Senior Manager in Accounting Advisory & Outsourcing. In this role you will oversee client and candidate generation across the United States, support overall practice direction, and lead business development, recruiting, and client management initiatives.

Job Summary

Apply your educational background, industry experience, and business acumen to deliver positive project outcomes. As part of the department leadership team, you will mentor Strategic Resources staff, manage business development strategies, and maintain key client relationships.

Job Duties
  • Develop and execute business‑development strategies and service offerings for target industries.
  • Collaborate with industry teams and business‑development resources.
  • Participate in industry trade groups and networking events.
  • Build a sales pipeline and close new national business.
  • Ensure client satisfaction regarding work product quality, staff performance, engagement delivery, billing, and issue resolution.
  • Manage special client projects, including controller and CFO interim positions, as needed.
  • Identify new opportunities for cross‑selling to existing clients and acquiring new clients.
  • Create, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Measure, monitor, and report sales‑team performance with consistent updates in CRM.
  • Support weekly/monthly sales and recruiting activity reporting for Strategic Resources.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Assurance Managing Director to supervise day‑to‑day workloads and review work product from Strategic Resources recruiters and business‑development teams.
  • Act as a mentor to Strategic Resources staff as appropriate.
  • Deliver performance feedback and complete evaluations for Strategic Resources staff.
  • Manage the top line and bottom line for assigned projects.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Psychology, or Finance (required).
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in Accounting, Financial Consulting, or Staffing (required).
  • Proven gross‑margin track record relative to high sense of urgency (required).
  • Experience selling to and working with C‑level executives at Fortune 2000 companies (required).
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience with direct reports (preferred).
  • Two (2) or more years of technical Accounting or Tax experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of CRM and accounting/ERP systems (preferred).
  • Familiarity with the energy industry and typical roles/skill‑sets within Accounting and Finance.
  • Ability to match candidate skill sets to job‑order requirements and identify strategic relationship opportunities within BDO.
  • Assertive conflict management and negotiation skills to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
  • Strong written, verbal, quantitative, and presentation skills with demonstrated leadership.
  • Excellent customer‑service orientation and ability to multitask in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently or within a group, thriving under pressure.
Compensation
  • National Range: $125,000 – $135,000
  • Maryland Range: $125,000 – $135,000
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $125,000 – $135,000
