The Huntsman Cancer Institute, part of the University of Utah, seeks an Accountant II to maintain and reconcile ledgers in accordance with GAAP or IFRS. This role prepares financial reports, analyzes data, and supports budgeting for various funding sources.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 4 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 2 years of related experience. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Job Summary

Maintains and reconciles ledgers and accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles. Prepares and analyzes financial information, prepares reports and financial statements based upon derived statistics and analysis performed.

Responsibilities
Accountants, II

Prepare standard and specialized financial reports (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( GAAP ) or International Financial Reporting Standards ( IFRS ). Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for local, national, and private funding, contracts, and/or grants. Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.

Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
