Position Title Accountant Sr II - Accountant Process & Technology Location Troy, MI 48098

Job Summary

The Accountant Sr II - Accounting Process & Technology is responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and use of technology, identifying and investigating process risk, and driving initiatives to full resolution. This role helps oversee various accounting functions (and often outside of accounting), ensuring streamlined processes, technology usage, automation and effective issue resolution. This position requires strong technical skills, pragmatic problem-solving skills, deep understanding of accounting process, internal controls over financial reporting and risk identification and mitigation, and the ability to manage multiple projects, sometimes under tight deadlines and frequent collaboration with management on a cross-functional basis to align process and technology with organizational goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Process Identification: Identifies inefficiencies and opportunities enhance to processes and technology within accounting and related functions by analyzing bottlenecks, recurring errors and stakeholder feedback.
  • Root Cause & Solutions: Investigates improvement opportunities to identify root cause and supports the development of practical, scalable solutions in close coordination with impacted team members.
  • Implementation & Collaboration: Partners with accounting and other business units to implement solutions and best practices enhancing operational efficiency. Incorporates technology as an aspect of solutions while leveraging systems and creating automation where possible. Collaborates with team members working on process-related initiatives and facilitates cross-departmental communication to drive efficiency.
  • Project Management: Leads and supports project management initiatives identifying and tracking key aspects of solution implementation including responsible personnel, key dependencies and deliverables to ensure timely and effective completion, including measurable efficiency gains when applicable. Reports progress and escalates issues to management as deemed appropriate. Maintains documentation of new/modified processes.
  • Special Projects: Leads or assists with complex and technical special projects and ad hoc departmental needs, including designing and building automated reconciliations in Blackline.
  • ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance training. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications: Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Accounting required with Technology focus preferred.

Minimum experience required: 6+ Years accounting experience with 2 years in public accounting.

Preferred Qualifications: Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) in Accounting or Finance. CPA license preferred.

Job Competencies: Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to master new technology quickly and effectively. Deep understanding of accounting process, internal controls over financial reporting and risk identification and mitigation. Pragmatic problem solver. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required. Strong attention to detail. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Alteryx and Blackline auto-matching system experience preferred. Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights. Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results. Builds trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience. Fosters or supports a positive work culture and productive work environment, displaying importance of effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Pay Range $72,291.00 - $119,820.00
