Job summary

Watertown Development Company is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to analyze financial information, prepare reports, and ensure accuracy in financial processes. This role will support month-end close, maintain financial integrity, and collaborate across departments to improve accounting operations.

The position is based at our Fargo corporate office. You will reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare month-end statements, research variances, assist with audits, and participate in system

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field).
• 2–4 years of accounting experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Attention to detail with accuracy in financial work.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyze month-end financial statements, including accruals and expense reviews.
• Research and resolve variances, posting errors, and unusual trends in financial data.
• Support audit preparation and year-end workpapers.
• Collaborate with departments to provide accounting guidance on transactions, projects, and system updates.
• Assist with daily accounting tasks such as journal entries, check runs, and vendor settlements.
• Contribute to process improvements, system implementations, and testing efforts.
• Participate in special projects (e.g., fixed assets, sales tax, incentive programs).
