Job summary

Starr Indemnity & Liability Company is seeking an Accountant to manage financial records and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The role covers all aspects of general accounting, including bank reconciliations and the month-end close, with collaboration across departments to improve processes.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, experience with GAAP/IFRS, and proficiency in Excel and accounting software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or equivalent preferred (optional).
• Proven experience as an accountant incl. bank reconciliations and month-end close processes.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/ IFRS accounting principles.
• Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash records.
• Oversee general accounting including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, and ledger maintenance.
• Manage month-end closing processes with journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Analyze, reconcile, and resolve general ledger discrepancies.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and other reports for accuracy.
• Review invoices, expense reports, and payments timely; assist budgeting and variance analysis.
