Job summary

Ashland Credit Union in Ashland, KY is hiring an Accountant to join our Finance Department. This role balances and updates general ledger, reconciles cash accounts daily, and handles accounts payable and year-end reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Deliver service in alignment with ACU’s Service Standards, Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure that all activities are processed in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare, pay, and file all accounts payable for the credit union. Research and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain all required records necessary for filing year end 1099-MISC forms and oversee the filing of said forms.
• Journalize all necessary transactions and ensure general ledger is in balance daily.
• Analyze and reconcile various general ledger account activity.
• Assist the Accounting Manager in maintaining financial, statistical, and accounting records of the credit union.
• Respond to member questions while providing member education if necessary.
• Follow ACU retention practices and document imaging processes.
• Update job specific procedures annually, reflecting current operations.
• Adhere to all ACU policies, procedures and applicable compliance standards.
• Other duties as requested by the CEO, EVP, CFO or manager.
