Job summary

AUX, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, is seeking an Accountant II to support financial management and day-to-day operations for client credit unions and AUX. You will perform core accounting tasks, reconciliations, and contribute to reporting accuracy while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

The role requires a four-year accounting degree or equivalent, 1–3 years of experience, and proficiency with MS Office and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential accounting functions for credit union clients accurately and timely.
• Process daily ACH and Share Draft files; handle stop payments and adjustments as applicable.
• Balance and verify general ledger daily; prepare and post journal entries.
• Assist with month-end close, prepare journal entries and simple reconciliations.
• Maintain client records and documentation; meet deadlines for client deliverables.
• Support client and vendor issue resolution; participate in client meetings as needed.

Job description

AUX, is seeking an Accountant II to support its financial management and day-to-day operations. If you are a detail-oriented accounting professional with excellent mathematical skills and a strong commitment to accuracy, this could be a great opportunity for you. AUX provides products and services that help credit unions meet their operational and business needs. In this role, you will play an important part in maintaining accounting reports, performing reconciliations, and supporting other accounting functions for AUX, as well as providing accounting support to our client credit unions and other CUSOs.

As an Accountant II you will also provide accounting support to our client credit unions and other CUSOs, offering the opportunity to work directly with internal teams, clients, vendors, and other industry partners.

You Will Take Ownership Of

• Performing all essential accounting functions for credit union clients in a timely and accurate manner. These functions include, but are not limited to:
• Uploading data files into clients' accounting systems for daily use (if required).
• Performing daily processing of ACH and Share Draft files for clients.
• Processing stop payments, adjustments, and origination maintenance may be included
• Performing daily processing and settlement balancing of various processes as required contractually.
• Balancing and verifying general ledger accounts daily and preparing and posting journal entries as needed.
• Documenting procedures for assigned tasks and updating the procedure library as needed.
• Assisting with the month-end close process by preparing and posting month-end journal entries, simple reconciliations and other tasks as needed.
• Maintaining client records in a timely and orderly manner in accordance with prescribed standards.
• Maintaining proper documentation as appropriate to the nature of the transaction processed.
• Ensuring all deadlines are met for client deliverables.
• Take ownership of client issues, work with clients and vendors to resolve issues, including holding regular client meetings as needed.
• Working with internal quality control to ensure high-quality work output.
• Resolving issues with vendors and clients independently and only escalating when needed.
• Cross-training team members on job functions to ensure client tasks are completed in a consistent fashion during time away.
• Performing intermediate level accounting functions for credit union clients in a timely and accurate manner. These functions include, but are not limited to:
• Completing complex daily, weekly and/or monthly reconciliations; performing research and follow up on outstanding items.
• Assisting with the implementation of new clients using established on-boarding tools and procedures. Communicating progress and issues in a timely manner.
• Preparing supporting schedules for financial and regulatory reports.
• Preparing routine accruals and month-end worksheets.
• Assisting with monthly client status update preparation.
• Assisting with 5300 Call Report schedule completion.
• Assisting with audit/examination support.
• Assisting with Accountant I training.
• Consistently using the Monday.com portal for client work tracking.
• Consistently look for process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

• A four-year degree with an accounting or related emphasis; or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school; or job-specific skills acquired through on-the-job training or an apprenticeship program.
• One to three years of accounting experience desired; financial institution experience preferred (bank, credit union, savings and loan, etc.).
• Ability to operate a 10-key, PC, and applicable software, including MS Office, various data processing systems, internet-based programs and accounting systems.
• Understanding of a general ledger, including double-sided accounting.

Work Schedule

Work schedule will vary based on business needs and may include standard business hours across multiple time zones. From time to time, working on-site at client locations may be required.
