Job summary

ONEOK, a Fortune 500 midstream services company in Tulsa, OK, seeks an Accountant I to support accounting and settlements for natural gas pipeline and storage operations. You will prepare invoices, assist with month-end close, and collaborate with Commercial, Contracts, Scheduling, and other groups to ensure accurate financial results.

This role requires a Bachelor's in accounting or related field, strong accounting knowledge, and the ability to interact with regulators and auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in accounting or finance.
  • Experience with GL, reconciliations, and tax calculations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting and audits.
  • Strong MS Excel and financial software knowledge.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, records, regulatory reports and budgets.
  • Perform accounting for customer accounting and AR reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of tax returns and calculations.
  • Verify calculations: depreciation, allocations, account charges.
  • Use systems to prepare/verify financial and regulatory reports.
  • Support auditors and respond to regulatory requests.

ONEOK is seeking an Accountant I to support the accounting and settlement activities for natural gas pipeline and storage operations. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing invoices and settlements, supporting month-end close activities, researching and resolving accounting issues, assisting with regulatory reporting and audits, and collaborating with Commercial, Contracts, Scheduling, Measurement, and other business groups to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial results. The role also supports interactions with state and federal regulatory agencies by preparing required data, reports, and documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.

Job Profile Summary

Performs routine duties related to various accounting functions.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Prepare various journal entries, records, regulatory reports, and budget information
  • Performs accounting functions related to customer accounting and accounts receivable reconciliations
  • Assist with preparation of tax returns and supporting tax calculations
  • Verify and/or perform calculations including, but not limited to:
    • Ratios
    • Percentages and discounts
    • Depreciation
    • Allocations
    • Account charges
    • Financial ratios
  • Utilize applicable micro and/or mainframe applications to assist with preparation and/or verification of information including, but not limited to:
    • Forecasted versus actual expenses
    • Governmental/regulatory reports
    • Financial reports
    • Quarterly income statements
    • Corporate tax returns
  • Provide information and assistance to auditors, governmental/regulatory staff, managers, employees, customers, and others concerning accounting activities
Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, other related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related experience:

Work Experience

Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software

  • Knowledge of: spreadsheet and word processing software applications, financial accounting and reporting standards and processes, corporate tax functions and preparation of returns, economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions
