Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking an Accountant I to assist in creating and maintaining financial records and ensuring accurate reporting. The candidate will reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger and support the monthly close.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, up to two years of experience, and strong communication and organizational skills. Applicants should be prepared for overtime and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from a four-year college or university.
• Zero to two years related experience and/or training.
• Understanding and ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills and detail orientation.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Basic understanding of the general ledger and month-end closing process.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cost accounting and other related duties.
• Create and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Compile financial data to assist in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
• Perform a variety of balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
• Participate in the monthly close and general ledger reconciliation.
• Communicate with other departments as necessary to coordinate workflow and the collection of accounting information.
• Aid external and internal auditors in annual audits.
• Monitor and review compliance with applicable laws and regulations as necessary.
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as requested.
• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
• Ability to travel overnight.

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Accountant I. The right candidate will assist in creating and maintaining financial records to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded to produce accurate financial reporting. Reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.

• Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

• Mortgage lending experience a plus
• Knowledge in title processes a plus
