Job summary

T. Daniels Consulting, a leading IT cybersecurity services firm in Michigan, seeks a Controller/CFO to oversee daily accounting, financial reporting, and process improvement.

The candidate will work with CPA support for month-end close and tax filings, driving growth through scalable systems. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting for small businesses, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in TigerPaw or Sage, with a detail-oriented and strategic mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience for a small business.
• Proficiency with GAAP and financial statements.
• Strong detail orientation and time management.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day accounting: AP, AR, GL, reconciliations.
• Close monthly books including P&L, balance sheet, accruals.
• Prepare basic tax filings and journal entries.
• Improve and document processes for efficient operations.
• Verify accuracy of customer invoices and manage vendors.

Your Role: Controller CFO

Accounting Tasks Will Include:

• Day-to-day accounting and financial management (AP, AR, general ledger, bank deposits, customer contracts, etc...)
• Refine and maintain accuracy of reconciliation of AR and AP invoices.
• Month end closing including; balancing general ledger, monthly accruals, preparing trial balance, P& L, balance sheet, and reconciling entries. (working with assistance from our CPA)
• Filing basic sales tax reports monthly and other Federal/State/Local reporting that may be required, processing journal entries for outsourced items. (payroll outsourced ADP)
• Collecting & analyzing trends along with summarizing account information.
• Translating big ideas into projects, deliverables, and timelines.
• Develop, improve and document processes allowing for efficient operations.
• Verification and accuracy of customer invoices.
• Assist with office administration and management including overseeing building maintenance vendors, office supplies and other needs.

Requirements

• You have a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with an emphasis on Accounting/Finance or You have at least 5 years of accounting/bookkeeping/ experience related to small business (TigerPaw industry specific software experience a plus)
• You have an understanding of GAAP.
• Completing tasks on time is a must for you.
• You are CRAZY smart. You have a logical, structured, organized, and systematized thought process.
• You are detail-oriented.
• You are tech – savvy and love learning new information .
• You are highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (excel, word, outlook), including proficiency with accounting software applications and can transfer your knowledge in learning our industry software, TigerPaw and Sage.
• You don’t make ANY assumptions and always ask questions to gain more clarity.
• You are INSANELY resourceful - spotting hidden opportunities for new processes and growth is second nature for you.
• Must have 2-3 solid references and be able to pass a background check
