Job summary

MSA Safety is seeking an Associate or Intermediate Accountant to participate in the monthly and quarterly close processes, including SEC filings and related financial analysis. You'll report to the Manager - Financial Reporting in the Reporting and Consolidations Department.

Prepare consolidation entries, assist with Form 10-Q/10-K, perform variance analyses, and support internal controls while collaborating with global business units and other finance teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, accounting principles, and financial statements.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills with ability to develop solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy and attention to deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes, including consolidated financial statements.
  • Prepare consolidation, lease accounting, intercompany elimination, and other closing journal entries with analyses.
  • Assist in Form 10-Q and 10-K preparation with footnote support and schedules.
  • Review regional financial statements and provide analytic summaries for internal controls.
  • Administer the quarterly SOX 302 process within Workiva.
  • Assist in implementing new accounting standards and lease accounting updates.
  • Record benchmarking of peer filings to identify disclosure trends.
  • Compile and validate financial information from global business units.
  • Support cash flow statement and other financial reporting analyses.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, and finance teams.
  • Support audit requests with schedules and information.

Responsibilities

We're looking for an Associate or Intermediate Accountant to participate in the monthly and quarterly closing process including SEC filings and performance of related financial analysis. You'll demonstrate your financial analysis and analytical skills while reporting to the Manager - Financial Reporting in the Reporting and Consolidations Department. Description of duties and responsibilities:




  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes, including preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules

  • Prepare and analyze consolidation, lease accounting, intercompany elimination, and other closing journal entries, including related variance analyses

  • Assist in the accurate preparation of Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including footnote support and disclosure schedules, in accordance with internal deadlines

  • Review regional financial statements and prepare analytic summaries to support internal controls over financial reporting

  • Administer the quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley Section 302 process within Workiva

  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards, identify system driven obstacles, and recommend a course of action for successful implementation

  • Assist in the ongoing administration of the new lease accounting standard

  • Perform benchmarking of peer filings to identify disclosure trends

  • Compile and validate financial information received from global business units.

  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow statement support and other financial reporting analyses.

  • Help monitor compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting requirements.

  • Research accounting issues and assist in documenting accounting conclusions.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, and business unit finance teams.

  • Support external and internal audit requests by preparing schedules and responding to information requests.

  • Participate in process improvement and finance transformation initiatives, including reporting automation opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of accounting processes and financial reporting activities.

Education and experience required:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting



This position is posted at multiple levels:



  • Associate I: Entry level

  • Associate II: 0-1 years of relevant experience

  • Intermediate I: 2 years of relevant experience

  • Intermediate II: 2-4 years of relevant experience



Preferred education and experience:


  • 2 years public accounting or experience in a multinational manufacturing company

  • SAP and/or Oracle EPM experience

  • CPA earned or in progress
