Job description

Position purpose

The accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze and/or reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts
• Review, maintain, initiate and request Certificates of Insurance
• Review and repair daily discrepancies between finished goods on hand and supporting pallet quantities
• Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable general ledger to supporting subsidiaries
• Reconcile monthly sales reports to general ledger
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Review monthly maintenance parts costs
• Prepare monthly state and federal milk reports
• Establish costs for milk PO purchases
• Generate monthly intercompany report
• Reconcile monthly third party billings for employee benefit premiums to the general ledger
• Fixed asset accounting
• Analyze clearing account and rectify errors
• Maintain analysis of utility expenses
• Generate monthly Operations reports
• Banking duties as assigned
• Prepare annual vendor and buyer ethics mailing
• Initiate and finalize annual review of maintenance parts for obsolescence
• Complete and file annual State unclaimed property report
• Provide outside auditors with assistance, gathering necessary account information and documents for annual audit
• Monthly rebate accruals and reconciliationsMaintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field required
• At least two years of related accounting experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
