Job summary

NuDevCo Investments is seeking an Accountant in Houston, TX to maintain accurate general ledger information, support audit requests, and prepare entries for cash, debt, interest, and intercompany accounts. The role collaborates with the financial reporting team to ensure precise financial records.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 3–5 years in public accounting or industry, and proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 3-5 years of experience in public accounting and/or industry.
• Proficient in Excel and Word; pivot tables a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon) and NetSuite a plus.
• 40 hours per week minimum.
• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Report on KPIs surrounding cash, including time entry and accuracy.
• Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries.
• Cash application (transfers, manual checks, vouchers).
• Notes Payable/Debt; Interest; Accruals.
• Code invoices to affiliated companies and outside vendors.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve differences.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and document reconciling items.
• Prepare accounting schedules for internal and external reporting.
• Assist with audits and cross-functional projects.
• Drive process improvements with controls-based knowledge.
• Communicate with management and cross-functional teams.

JOB SUMMARY

The Accountant’s main responsibilities include ensuring information in the general ledger is accurate, facilitating audit-related requests, ensuring coding for cost centers is complete and accurate, and preparing entries to cash, debt, interest, and intercompany accounts. The accountant will also support our financial reporting team.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Report on key performance indicators surrounding cash, including time entry, entry accuracy, etc
• Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries related to
• Cash application (transfers, manual checks, vouchers)
• Notes Payable/Debt
• Interest
• Accruals
• Applying cash payments to AR
• Create/Update vendors in the ERP system
• Prepare and code invoices to affiliated companies and outside vendors
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to their supporting detail and resolve differences
• Prepare bank reconciliations, investigate and document reconciling items
• Prepare accounting schedules (i.e. debt rollforward, legal rollforward, etc.) for internal and external reporting purposes
• Assist with external and internal audit requests, as well as support special projects
• Apply innovative and controls-based knowledge to improve current processes
• Communicate effectively with management and work closely with other departments, including cross training, as well as outside vendors
• Recommend and drive continuous improvement through analysis and experience
• Support compliance of all corporate policies and general procedure guidelines
• Additional duties as assigned
• Assist with Financial Reporting related functions and cross-functional general accounting duties as needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 3-5 years of experience in public accounting and/or industry (preferred)
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word (pivot table skills a plus)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon) and NetSuite ERP system a plus
• Pro‑active nature with the ability to get things processed in the most efficient and effective manner possible
• Meticulous with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week
