Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Findlay, Ohio seeks an Operations Accounting Coordination Accountant to support SOX control reporting, verification of financial transactions, audit support, and process improvements within the Controller's organization.

You will work with operations personnel, traders, schedulers, and other partners, applying analytical thinking and technical aptitude to ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting records and to help drive efficient, compliant processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years accounting/finance experience.

Position Overview:

The Operations Accounting Coordination Accountant supports key accounting, control, and reporting activities within the Controller's organization. This role is responsible for helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records through SOX control reporting, financial transaction verification, audit support, and process improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including operations personnel, traders, schedulers, and other business partners, while demonstrating strong customer service, analytical thinking, technical aptitude, and the ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collects, compiles, analyzes, and verifies completion of reporting related to SOX controls to ensure the integrity of accounting records.
  • Identifies efficiencies and recommends ways to improve processes and standards.
  • Ensures the integrity of financial transactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supports accounting processes by addressing and assisting with fulfilling business requirements, process, or system enhancements, and/or accounting standards.
  • Ensure standard business processes are followed within specific accounting functions.
  • As needed, participants in to ensure successful completion of internal and external audits.
  • Ensures proper execution of controls and performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with accounting policy.
  • Displays ability to utilize systems/tools, which may include, but not limited to, Excel, SAP, Right Angle, BW, etc.
  • Assists with various tasks related to Transmissions including but not limited to maintaining tables, manage updates, and investigating/resolving errors.
  • May document, update, and maintain internal procedures or work on special projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years accounting/finance experience.
