Job summary

Dallas International University is seeking an Accountant to join the Finance Department, handling student financials, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger tasks. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and collaboration with campus offices, including the Development Office for gifts and donations, with a strong focus on safeguarding confidential information.

Normal hours are 8 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday, 40 hours weekly. Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous accounting experience, preferably with an integrated accounting system.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, including debits, credits and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to handle financial and student information with strict confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; collaborative and teachable team member.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record financial transactions from university departments and individuals.
  • Prepare and make regular bank deposits and record them in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in Sage Intacct.
  • Process reimbursements and check requests with supporting documentation and approvals.
  • Perform month-end account reconciliations and assist with month-end close.
  • Maintain the Chart of Accounts in collaboration with the Director of Business Administration.
  • Respond to inquiries from vendors, students, and staff regarding payments and activity.
  • Collaborate with the Development Office to record gifts and donations as needed.
  • Support the annual audit by gathering and preparing requested documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
