Job summary

Safran Defense & Space, Inc. in Camarillo, CA is seeking an Accountant to join the accounting team.

The role requires knowledge of GAAP, consolidation, and strong Excel skills; you will support monthly closes, maintain ledgers, prepare journal entries, and assist with audits and tax filings. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, at least three years of experience, and comfort with ERP systems (SAP/WAWF).

Responsibilities

• Understand financial transactions and statements.

POSITION PROFILE:

The Accountant will be an integral member of the accounting team and responsible for a variety of accounting functions. The qualified candidate will work under minimal supervision as part of a small team and be an individual contributor. A detail‑oriented individual with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously will be best suited for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Have a working understanding of financial transactions and financial statements
• Support the monthly financial close process in accordance with GAAP
• Perform general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries
• Responsible for various invoicing activities
• Contribute to internal controls initiatives, identifying opportunities for compliance improvements
• Assist in preparing forecasts and the annual budget
• Create and distribute weekly or monthly internal management reports related to Program/Product cost progression, Inventory, Product Line Profitability, IR&D, etc.
• Support internal and external audit requests
• Assist with tax filings and sales tax compliance on an as needed basis
• Provide support for ERP activities as necessary
• Generate ad hoc reporting as required
• Participate in special projects as assigned

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or a related field.
• Minimum three years’ experience in accounting or finance
• Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• ERP experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills
• Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.

IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:

• Knowledge in Cost Accounting Standards
• Experience in DCAA based accounting
• Experience with Wide Area Workflow (WAWF)
• Business Intelligence experience
• SAP experience
• Ability to handle very large data sets in Microsoft Excel
• Experience working in an ITAR environment

SALARY RANGE: $80,000-$100,000 annual salary, plus participation in individual performance bonus plan.

TRAVEL: Minimal travel may be required, including outside the local area and overnight.
