Ansett Aircraft Spares & Services in Sylmar, CA is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team and help maintain accuracy of financial operations in a fast-paced, inventory-driven business. You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, budgets, and variance analysis, ensure GAAP compliance, and support audits and strategic reporting.

Ansett Aircraft Spares & Services is a trusted provider of aircraft parts and support services to the aviation industry. We’re looking for an experienced Accountant to join our finance team and help maintain the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations as we continue to grow.

Position Summary

The Accountant will report to the Accounting Director and be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, inventory-driven business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Accounting Director
• Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts in coordination with operations and warehouse teams
• Assist the Accounting Director with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies set by the Accounting Director
• Support external audits and prepare audit schedules/documentation as directed
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement
• Assist with accounts payable/receivable oversight as needed
• Mentor and provide guidance to accounting staff
• Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting requests from the Accounting Director and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 3+ years of accounting experience preferred — candidates with less experience but a demonstrated ability to learn quickly are strongly encouraged to apply
• Strong proficiency in Excel required
• Experience in aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, or distribution/inventory-based industries a plus
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadlines
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Must be based within commuting distance of Sylmar, CA
