Job summary

Hazy Mountain Vineyards & Brewery seeks an experienced Accountant to maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities within its portfolio. You will oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close, delivering timely statements and insights to ownership.

The role offers autonomy across hospitality, events, and food and beverage, with opportunities to influence budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and margins.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally supporting multiple entities.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or Xero, plus strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and high standards of accuracy.
  • Clear communicator who can translate numbers into insights for non-finance leaders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate books for each entity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and general ledger posting.
  • Ensure transactions are properly coded, recorded, and aligned with internal controls and accounting best practices.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by entity.
  • Prepare and deliver financial statements for each entity with accuracy and consistency.
  • Track budgets and monitor performance across the portfolio.
  • Deliver clear reports and actionable insights to ownership and leadership.
  • Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Evaluate operating costs and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve margins.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax laws across the organization.
  • Coordinate with outside auditors and tax preparers to support filings, reviews, and audit readiness.

Position Overview

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities within the Hazy Mountain portfolio. This role manages full-cycle accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, weekly payroll, reconciliations, reporting, compliance, and month-end close.

This position plays a key role in producing clear and timely financial statements, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing leadership with reports and insights that support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate books for each entity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, and general ledger posting.
  • Ensure transactions are properly coded, recorded, and aligned with internal controls and accounting best practices.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Reconciliations & Month-End Close
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by entity.
  • Prepare and deliver financial statements for each entity with accuracy and consistency.
Reporting, Budgeting & Performance Tracking
  • Track budgets and monitor performance across the portfolio.
  • Deliver clear reports and actionable insights to ownership and leadership.
  • Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Evaluate operating costs and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve margins.
Compliance & External Coordination
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax laws across the organization.
  • Coordinate with outside auditors and tax preparers to support filings, reviews, and audit readiness.Build and maintain accounting policies and procedures to support consistency and scalability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally supporting multiple entities.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or Xero, plus strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and high standards of accuracy.
  • Clear communicator who can translate numbers into insights for non-finance leaders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-entity reporting experience.
  • CPA certification.
  • Cash flow forecasting and budget management experience.
  • Familiarity with compliance across diverse industries (hospitality, events, food and beverage, etc.).
